Demonstration against the nomination of William Howard Taft is held.

African-American residents rally at Faneuil Hall and threaten to leave the Republican Party if it nominates Taft for president. Organized by William Monroe Trotter, the demonstration leads to formation of the Negro-American Political League in Philadelphia in April 1908.
